The example of China, where the virus first emerged, is an example to follow, established internationally as a protocol to be followed by health bodies and governments in the treatment of coronavirus.
The Chinese in record time built 16 special units-hospitals, to deal with the crisis.
In Cyprus, we are definitely not Chinese.
We can't build new hospitals in 10 days. But the government can commandeer buildings or other accommodation, equip them and create crisis management centers. With short-term and medium-term strategic plans, as required by crisis management protocols.
There are both remarkable scientists and academics on both the national crisis management committee and medical professionals who are at the forefront of tackling the pandemic.
Where the whole system seems to be suffering in some ways, is in the gaps and deficits of organization, and planning, of the parameters of preventing the spread of the virus, rather than the treatment of outbreaks.
The majority of citizens took their share of responsibility in dealing with the crisis, adopting and implementing all the measures taken by the relevant bodies and the Authorities.
