ECONOMY AND CORONAVIRUS
(The Finance Minister Petridis-the challenges-and the model of Excellence tested ).
The pandemic that plagues all countries of the world and leads the economies of the states into recession and unemployment, has brought to the surface very serious issues, in terms of the management of serious crises, by governments.
Where governments sought and had the expertise and science of specialists, both the academic community and other great specialists, they managed with less loss and sooner, to pass through the first complexes of coronavirus...
Without stateting that this is the end of the crisis. But where governments and politicians had their own view snd perspective of things, as far as the handling of the pandemic is concerned, the results have proved tragic in human lives, but also the risks of collapsing the economies are very visible.
In Cyprus, perhaps for the first time in political history, the government and the political leadership, left the management of the crisis, as far as the scientific aspect is concerned,in the hands of the scientific community,and to scientific expertise, with integrity ,moral values,and social sensitivity Taking on their shoulders with responsibility, the burden of the entire management of the pandemic,.
President Anastasiades and the government, intentionally or unwittingly, launched a crisis management model, under the weight of circumstances, with great success. They left the blame to those who had the qualifications and the potentials to tackle the challenging coronavirus pandemic.
Without being overwhelmed by the various syndromes of the past ...syndromes of omniscience, or of all things, or of disease, or of malady.!!
This politically correct and socially responsible behaviour of the system, should not stop here. When people of high standards, moral values,and scientific stature of Kostrikis or the other academics scientists, we will not see them every day on our television receivers, either with their humility to present themselves, or to thank the Citizens, for the sacrifices they undergo.. This model of crisis management must have continuity. Because, the big problems of the economy are just at the beginning.
And the only sure thing is, that dealing with them will be anything but easy. On the contrary, experts emphasize, that the problems from the pandemic, will need ways and means of coping, unknown so far ,similar to the great crisis of 1929.
The Minister of health of Cyprus, Mr. Ioannou, launched a new model of managing the crisis of the coronavirus pandemic .
Using the expertise of the most qualified people and scientists.
It is now the turn of the Minister of Finance, Mr. Petridis,to follow and apply a similar model in economic issues . The challenges are great and the risks that lie ahead in the course of time,for businesses and workers, but also for all citizens, huge.
Mr. Petridis is called to form a national economic management team. A group of economists and academics of all disciplines, and who are not partisan.
Whose the only credentials will be the academic and international scientific recognition.
Outside of all expediency andthe intertwined interests.
It is the time when only worthy and high qualified scientists can provide solutions to human problems.
Scientists with ethos and moral values but also social sensitivity.
Because behind and above every system, is the human factor.
Systems aren't and shouldn't exists as a self existing model of creation. It is at the service of society and for his evolutionary course. Systems which are for , and serve the few have no duration.
They are doomed to fail.
The fact that Mr. Petridis found himself leading the Treasury in such difficult times is no coincidence.
From the very beginning he showed a completely different face, as to the management of the economy.
With the potentials of a very challenging situations we are going through as a society, a big bet is placed in front of us.
Whether we can make it or not.
But in order to succeed, we need a vision.And any vision is the dream of the citizens.
The politician who will seek to turn the dreams of the many into visions of his own, has a great chance of achieving it.
The challenges and difficulties, provide us with the chances and the possibilities, to go one or more steps forward.
That is why the Minister of Finance is called to implement a different model of management and resolution of the crisis problems caused by by coronavirus.
With a new perspective on solving the problems of the economy.
Using the bests of the bests rather, than the bests of incompetence and incabability.
The model of the aristos was applied with success.
Let's apply this model into the economy, for a better future.
