British professor from King's College London, David Betz, made the following diagnosis with many other specialists, including military ones, during a forum organized in Hungary by the Danube Institute: Russia has been winning since February, according to David Betz, the Russian military industry has a step ahead against the West. “The defeat of Ukraine will clearly be the defeat of the collective West, but only the West defeats itself».

When asked by the press how they changed our idea of ​​modern warfare on the front lines, the professor first remarked that “we must treat all news coming from the front with reservations, because images shared by either side often do not reflect reality».

And he continued in the same way: “According to the current Western concept, modern warfare is much faster, more movement, more precise but more limited use of firepower. (…) On the contrary, if we look at the things seen in the Russian-Ukrainian war, they resemble much more the scenario of world wars compared to the modern war mentioned above". As a result, it is still very important to know who has more soldiers, more ammunition, more military equipment.

«We can also then deduce that Russia is winning, at least since February this year, because Moscow has accumulated many such tools, which are already considered or described as obsolete" said Betz.

Astonishing sums of money are flowing into the defense industry

The professor also noted that “astonishing amounts of money are pouring into the defense industry, and this will only grow in the years to come».

«However, the Western military industry faces a big problem: there is currently a demand for mass production of different systems, but the West is content with small production of expensive equipment».

In this regard, the Russian military industry has a head start: despite the significant damage to the country's economy, the defense industry can meet much greater current expectations than the collective West. Moreover, this is coupled with the fact that in some areas – for example air defense systems or hypersonic weapons – Moscow is ahead of the West.
